Signalbau Huber Provides the First Intersection Control Unit in Moscow
15.08.2006
München - In Moscow, the first ACTROS Traffic Controller by Signalbau Huber has successfully been put into operation as part of a pilot project. Signalbau Huber is thereby the first West-European service provider to have implemented an intersection control unit in Moscow.
The Controller is equipped with an OCIT module via a GSM modem and controls Russian traffic lights with 220V bulbs and 220V LEDs. Induction loops and a video detection system supply the necessary data input.
The megacity of Moscow is vehemently pushing the modernisation of its traffic infrastructure. Following the World Bank-financed implementation of a highly modern traffic directing system for the newly built, third city ring road, for which Signalbau Huber supplied 300 fully electronic LED information panels, all eyes are now increasingly directed towards the necessary modernisation of the control system for inner city intersections.
Here, the first-time installation of the ACTROS Controller represents a milestone in the reorganisation of Moscow’s city traffic. The pilot project, commissioned by the city government under the auspices of the Russian United TeleCom is the starting signal for a complete relaunch of the inner city traffic control system through traffic light systems and the innovative collection of traffic data.
